The IFS model offers a transformative way of understanding our sytems—viewing the mind as multiple parts led by a compassionate "Self." This 2-hour webinar moves beyond terms and explores how to apply IFS within our Appalachian communities.

Understanding the roles Self, managers, firefighter, and exiles
Identifying common protective parts unique to Appalachian cultural identity.
How to stay compassionate and curious even when a client’s parts are highly activated.
Practice beginning steps of an IFS session and the "6Fs" to identify protective systems.

Susan Millham (MSW, LICSW) and Holly Thomas (MSW, LICSW, AADC, MAC) are Certified IFS Therapists and co-founders of The Self-led Collective of Appalachia. Together, they bring extensive experience in clinical social work, addiction counseling, and gerontology to help you integrate the IFS model into your practice.

Join us for a clinical introduction of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. This workshop will provide an experiential introduction for MSW students who are curious to learn about IFS and are seeking guidance on how to begin working with clients informed by this approach.
The workshop will consist of didactic teaching and experiential exercises. Registration confirmation and zoom links will be sent out
