Agency Training Options Now Available!

SLCA is pleased to offer on-site and virtual training options for our area agencies. These training opportunities cover the basics of IFS or address more advanced topics. Currently, we have two options available, but we can create specific training catered to your agency’s needs. Both workshops provide hands-on, experiential learning opportunities for your clinical staff. We invite your organization to partner with us.

Basics of IFS Workshop: Introduction to IFS

This workshop introduces the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model to clinical therapists. It offers an experiential overview of core concepts for those seeking guidance on utilizing an IFS-informed practice with a wide range of clinical presentations. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the IFS paradigm as well as concrete tools to practice with clients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Core Principles: Understand the basic principles of the IFS Model.
  • Internal System Tracking: Identify different parts of the internal system and begin to map parts of your own system.
  • The 8 Cs: Learn to recognize and cultivate core qualities of Self-energy.
  • Session Architecture: Practical understanding of the opening steps of an IFS session.

Ideal For: Clinical therapists, individual, and family clinicians seeking introductory steps. Fully experiential with small breakout practice sessions.

Advanced Practice: Navigating Extreme Protectors

While emphasizing substance abuse firefighter parts, this advanced training dives deep into extreme protector parts—such as those involved in self-harm, eating disorders, compulsive behaviors, or aggressive outbursts. Clinicians will learn to identify and compassionately approach these powerful responses to underlying pain, equipping them to foster holistic healing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Firefighter Dynamics: Identify firefighter parts and understand their unique systemic roles.
  • Target Part Proficiency: Master precise identification of target parts within the model.
  • Systemic Permission: Recognize the vital steps and significance of gaining internal safety clearance.
  • The 6Fs Framework: Learn and practice direct application of the 6Fs with firefighter protectors.
  • Self-to-Part Integration: Acquire practical techniques for building healthy relationships with extreme parts.

Ideal For: Clinicians with a basic understanding of IFS who provide individual or family therapy. Features experiential breakout practice.
