I am deeply proud to be Appalachian. This place has been instrumental in shaping my identity, instilling in me a strong sense of community and a deep appreciation for the land unique to this region. It is more than just a place on a map; it is a tapestry woven with rich cultural heritage, a spirit of perseverance, and the warm nature of its people.

Having been raised here, with a family history spanning generations in WV, I feel a profound connection to the place and its people. This love for my home drives my commitment to its future. I feel a personal responsibility to contribute to the thriving of this region, leveraging my skills and passion to give back to the very communities and individuals who have helped shape me.

Why do I love Appalachia? About 13 years ago my spouse’s company relocated our family to WV from Upstate NY. As a result of that move, my life has been changed for good. I did not prepare myself for the process of moving to Appalachia. I didn’t know what I was moving towards; I didn’t know what I was joining; I didn’t know how connected I would feel.

What I found is stunning scenery with majestic hollows, ridges and mountains; I found warm and friendly faces with strong community bonds rooted in being a good neighbor and mutual care; I found a culture that is deeply connected to its history through many beautiful heirlooms such as storytelling. For all that this region has given me I feel a profound sense of purpose and responsibility to nurture and support my community.
